Schedule at a Glance

Since 2000, the Santa Barbara African Heritage Film Series has brought people of all ages and cultural backgrounds together in Santa Barbara in an effort to promote harmony and respect for others by using films, discussions and events. The Series will kick off this year with film clips of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the King Day program on January 17.

On February 11th, & 12th, the Series will present films at the Faulkner Gallery. On Feb. 16 a special film "Up From the Bottoms" will be shown at the UCSB MultiCultural Center. The following line-up includes films, a photographic historical display, and Youth Film Camp that will be offered to children ages 8 18 in March 2011.

"Roots of Community" Exhibit FREE
This exhibit focuses on the African American leaders of Santa Barbara and their legacy of activism for civic improvement, equity, and social justice. Exhibit organized by the California Ethnic and Multicultural Archives, Department of Special Collections, UCSB Library, UC Santa Barbara.
